Position Summary:

Responsible for the complete set up and proper operation of the Digital Press to print to customer specifications and GNC quality and efficiency standards by performing the following duties.


  1. Studies, evaluates and organizes daily work list to determine best order of runs.
  2. Enters set-up code, run code and related comments into work station computer.
  3. Utilizes computer and file management techniques to find, open, move, and store graphic files to be printed.
  4. Checks graphic files for proper specifications.
  5. Sets up digital printing press.
  6. Runs machine to produce product to proper GNC and customer specifications.
  7. Ability to identify, verify and match color for set-ups and quality checks on printed packaging.
  8. Inputs total piece, finished product, unit and scrap counts into work station computer.
  9. Directs and works along with assistant to complete set-up procedure and production run in the most efficient time and manner for each order.
  10. Provides on-going training to all assisting personnel, switching duties with assistant operator at least once a week.
  11. Works effectively with customers and suppliers to produce a high quality finished product.
  12. Helps to facilitate customer and supplier visits and press approvals.
  13. Regular and reliable attendance. Hours will be subject to change on short notice based on the needs of customers.  Flexibility in this area is vital.
  14. Maintains digital press and components, including, but not limited to print head cleaning and maintenance. Effectively troubleshoots all mechanical components and either repairs or assists with all repairs. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly clean-up and preventative maintenance procedures.
  15. Follows all set-up, run and check out procedures for accuracy and quality.


Individual must possess:

High school diploma or equivalency; ability to manage computer files and to understand graphic file requirements and specifications; two years experience in electrical or mechanical troubleshooting /repairs or related post secondary education is preferred;

Two years experience in graphic printing or two years working with graphic files or  2 years post high school training in a related field or a combination of these experiences is required;

Two years related experience as an assistant operator preferred;

Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, decimals and percentages; ability to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions; ability to direct crew members; excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; legible handwriting to record information and fill out forms; ability to solve problems and make adjustments regarding equipment, processes, procedures, and product conformity to meet specifications and quality standards; ability to identify register, fine line screen printing and color; ability to deal effectively with deadline pressures.
