POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting with set-up and operation of production equipment, and all floor operations requiring handwork. Provides assistance wherever work load requires to aid in the profitable flow of customer product from production through delivery while maintaining customer specifications and GNC quality and efficiency standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Must hold a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess the ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to visualize three dimensional objects.

HOURS

Persons hired are required to be available to work M-F, and be available for any shift: 1st shift – 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 2nd shift – 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, 3rd shift –10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Overtime is also required which can include 12 hour shifts, some Saturdays and occasionally Sundays. On the job training is provided, no prior experience is necessary.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Produce customer acceptable laminated, backside printed, and die cut products with a commitment to the StrataGraph Value Proposition. This position will learn all the positions on the machine to fully operate and fill in where required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reads and understands job jackets
  2. Performs make-ready functions at standard allowed times
  3. Mounts printed and unprinted rolls on laminator
  4. Sets machine functions per job specifications (glue, dryer, steam, die cutter and delivery)
  5. Assists in the set up and operation of backside flexographic printer
  6. Obtains acceptable product in line with customer approved samples
  7. Runs live production at standard speeds
  8. Assures that all procedures are followed (load tags, pull samples, sign offs, time sheets, stock reporting, maintenance reports, etc.)
  9. Assists with smooth shift transition and workflow
  10. Answers laminator/die cutter technical questions
  11. Assists with scheduling for efficiencies, where appropriate
  12. Brings forward any unresolved issues in a professional manner

HOURS:

Persons hired are required to work a M-F rotating shift assignment of: 3rd shift – 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, 2nd shift – 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, 1st shift – 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

REQUIREMENTS:

5 years of lamination/die cutting experience preferred, but on the job training will occur.

Prepare all rolls to be brought into the machine with minimum amount of waste. Plugging or de-coring rolls as needed. Cut or slab down rolls in an efficient manner to minimize waste. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  • Communicate any quality problems to the Crew Leader in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain an accurate count of all pieces packed on pallets. Communicate any count deviation from the standard VBoard packaging schedule to the VB Operator.
  • Place the correct shipping label onto pallet.
  • Be conscious of the general appearance of pallets being packed.
  • Separate all waste and dispose of properly.
  • Adjust output slides.
  • Follow all Safe Roll Handling procedures; tend up to 16 paper rolls at one time.
  • Make roll splices in an efficient manner as required.
  • Be in constant communication with Crew Leader.
  • Cut & store wooden cores and wedges as needed. Keep extra plugs and accessories in order in the assigned area.
  • Minimize down time during changeovers.
  • Maintain VBoard caliper within specified Company tolerances.
  • Move all finished stock from machines to the designated areas.
  • Make up packaging materials for machines and ensure quality construction.
  • Apply strapping, corner posts, stretch wrap, and labels in a consistent location before moving products to the shipping area.
  • Operate forklift, stretch wrapper, hoist, screw gun and bander as needed.
  • Use specified Company #’s, Customer #’s, and packing material as required.
  • Assist operator as needed.
  • All other reasonable duties as required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have punctual and regular attendance.
  • Assist in all phases of machine and department operation as needed for breaks, changes, or special projects.
  • Keep up to date with any ongoing machine improvements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands for manual dexterity; reach; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Position Summary

Responsible for set-up and operation of bandsaw, laminator, sheet gluer, up and down, and all floor operations requiring handwork. Provides assistance on taper, stitcher, slitter, baler, bander, bandsaw, and whenever and wherever work load requires to aid in the profitable flow of customer product from production through delivery while maintaining customer specifications and GNC quality and efficiency standards by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned.

  1. Operates bandsaw, laminator, sheet gluer, and up and down.
  2. Studies, evaluates and organizes daily work list received from specialty & finishing supervisor to determine maximum efficiency in order of runs.
  3. Enters set-up code, run code and related comments into work station computer.
  4. Sets up and adjusts machine to accurately cut, glue, slot, bundle and unitize corrugated sheets.
  5. Runs machine to produce product to proper GNC and customer specifications.
  6. Inputs total piece, finished product, unit and scrap counts into work station computer.
  7. Directs and works along with assistant to complete set-up procedure and production run in the most efficient time and manner for each order on equipment assigned to operate.
  8. Performs assistant operator duties on taper, stitcher, and slitter.
  9. Provides assistance throughout the production area.
  10. Performs clean up activities in production and on the grounds as assigned.
  11. Regular and reliable attendance.
  12. Follows all quality set-up, run and check out procedures for accuracy and quality.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Proficient in English
  • Lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to read a ruler
  • Mechanical and spatial aptitude
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality on a daily basis
  • Must be dedicated, reliable and punctual
  • Must pass basic math quiz

Entry Level Packaging Technician (StrataGraph)

POSITION SUMMARY:

StrataGraph has immediate openings for entry level packaging technician. This position is responsible for packing product at the end of production equipment and ensuring product meets customer expectations. The beginning pay rate for entry level is $14.50 per hour. StrataGraph also offers opportunity to learn and develop to assistant operator and operator positions with greater earning potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reads and understands job jackets.
  2. Assists with make-ready functions at standard allowed times.
  3. Take off, boxes, and stacks folded and glued products.
  4. Assures that labels are correct applied properly.
  5. Performs quality checks throughout the run.
  6. Keeps accurate counts per skid and on job overall
  7. Monitors quality at all times.
  8. Assists with machine clean-up.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

HOURS:

2nd Shift Monday-Friday 2:00pm -10:00pm with frequent opportunities for overtime.

3rd Shift Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm-6:00am with frequent opportunities for overtime.

REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates for these positions need to be self-managed, proactive, and able to interact well with other team members.
