Assembly Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a 1st Shift Material Handler responsible for efficiently and accurately pulling material for production orders, performing material stocking and material handling operations throughout the Plant Operations facility and the Warehouse/Distribution facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Separate and route products to assembly or to inventory.
  • Put away inventory in the appropriate locations and record the transactions in the computer system.
  • Verify shipping plan with Delivery Receipt before releasing shipment.
  • Make sure Special Instructions are followed.
  • Perform established quality inspections i.e. units that are not properly packaged for shipment need to be processed through our “Shipment Integrity” station.
  • Perform the required daily machine and work area maintenance as directed, ensure that aisles are swept, and trash is discarded when discovered. Keep exits and aisles clear and accessible at all times.
  • Participate in periodic staff meetings as required of the position. Participate in periodic development and training programs as required.
  • Operate forklift to transport materials.
  • Keep Safety in mind at all times and report any potential hazards to your supervisor or Safety committee member immediately.
  • Approachable and supportive when working with others.
  • Daily forklift pre-shift inspection.
  • Unload Incoming purchased product.
  • Receiving and inspection of incoming product using Imaginera software.
  • Disposition of received product using Top Gun to locate properly.
  • Perform a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks as may be assigned from time-to-time by a Management Representative.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 2-3 years’ experience and/or training in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Current forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Knowledge of material handling operations, methods and best practices.
  • Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure, manuals and order specifications.
  • Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.
  • Mechanical and spatial aptitude. Attention to detail, accuracy and quality.  Enthusiasm, dedication, reliability and punctuality required.

POSITION SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with hiring Managers to coordinate recruitment needs.
  • Develop job postings (internal & external).
  • Works with Management to define job qualifications.
  • Work with managers, supervisors and employees to write job descriptions and keep job descriptions updated.
  • Writes job advertisements, posts with appropriate venues, and utilizes internet/social media as a recruitment tool.
  • Source candidates and build a pipeline for talent from multiple sources.
  • Coordinate the interviewing process, including scheduling telephone and in-person interviews along with scheduling interview rooms and other logistical details.
  • Reviews job applications and resumes that are submitted by applicants.
  • Works directly with staffing agencies and placement of temp-to hire candidates when appropriate.
  • Schedule, administer and organize skills test and interviews with Industrial Psychologist for direct hires.
  • Conducts employee orientation and the communication of employee benefits.
  • Support the HR department and serve as the backup to the Human Resource Generalist in his/her absence.
  • Become the Human Capital Management System (HCM) Super-User. Train others how to use the system when necessary and appropriate.
  • Maintains a complete record of interviews and new hires.
  • Stay up-to-date with current recruiting methods.
  • Network within the community and participate in appropriate job fairs and career events.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field. 3 – 5 years of related Human Resources experience.
  • One to three years recruiting experience. Manufacturing environment a plus, but not necessary.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Requires the ability to practically apply knowledge in legal selection techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity and professionalism throughout the entire recruiting process.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and education backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Assurance Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for assuring compliance with Great Northern – Twin Cities Quality Policy and Procedures, Customer Requirement and Environmental regulations.  There will be an emphasis placed on product quality control, process control, quantitative measurements and environmental compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide interface and support to customer quality issues and concerns to facilitate an effective response and lead a course of action for problem resolution.
  • Perform product specific tasks as required. (i.e. First Article Inspection, Qualification testing/assurance, Failure analysis, Root Cause analysis, Customer press checks and Product Inspections).
  • Participate in the review of design, manufacturing, test, and qualification requirements.
  • Ensure the facility is in compliance with all Quality and Environmental standards.
  • Enhance and maintain GNC Twin Cities quality reporting system, in concert with providing internal and external performance metrics. Review quality trends, track root causes, initiate and implement corrective actions, and track effectiveness.
  • Maintain GNC Twin Cities Quality System.
  • Lead internal and external Audits and maintain all applicable documentation.
  • Site specific coordinator for Environmental Compliance requirements.
  • Provide input and recommendations to management on process and/or procedural improvements. At times, will lead process improvement efforts.
  • Interact with representatives from a variety of functional groups such as Customers, Suppliers, Vendors, GNC Management, Sales, Customer Service, Project Management, Manufacturing Supervision and Direct Labor.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with an emphasis in manufacturing operations, quality and/or safety/occupational health.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, influence and implement change.

Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a 3rd shift Maintenance Technician.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing semi-routine maintenance tasks for the Plant Operations facility and for Administrative Offices facility. Some on-call support may be needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns related to plant operations machinery, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical outages related to plant operations equipment and corporate office electrical needs.
  • Perform basic plumbing repair as required including plugged sewer lines and minor sewer repair.
  • Perform welding repair as required on plant operations machinery and related equipment.
  • Assist in general repair, alteration, small-scale new construction and preventative maintenance work.
  • Shovel snow and operates snow blower equipment as required.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Follow safe operating procedures and all safety rules in accordance with Company policy and in accordance with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and orderly; cleans up after completing maintenance work throughout the plant.
  • Monitor unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with Supervisors or other Maintenance Workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment.
  • Inspect and measure machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, dimensional requirements or other problems.
  • Remove, repair and replace worn or defective parts, mechanisms and systems.
  • Realign and adjust functional parts, components, devices and control adjustments.
  • Start machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all machines by cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of the machinery.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as wiring, and electrical components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the facilities (inside and outside of building).
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other fixtures or structures.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts, equipment and machines.
  • Participate and is certified as a member of the First Responders Committee and the HAZMAT team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Certificate in maintenance related technical field and/or 2-4 years of related work experience and/or the equivalent combination of both.
  • Ability to use a personal computer.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management Software/Systems.
  • Above average aptitude applicable to the methods, practices, tools and materials used in building, mechanical, maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Structural Designer to provide development of package and display design concepts to assigned customers, markets and/or projects.

The Sr. Structural Designer is responsible for fabricating final samples of design concepts for approval and write specifications for cost estimates and Production, and act as a resource to sales and other internal teams to enhance the ability of the company to present the concepts to the market.

This position will report to the Director of Design & Client Services

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Package Engineering, Industrial Design or Related Field AND 10+ years of hands-on package and instore display design experience.
  • Practiced knowledge in the use of ArtiosCAD, Kongsberg/Zund Sample Tables, and Topps/CAPE software packages.
  • Demonstrable experience through portfolios, CAD files, etc. of packaging and display applications.
  • Applicable retail store knowledge that translates into your designs.
  • Ability to take a written concept and translate it into a physical sample or 3D rendering.
  • Guide and direct less experienced designers in the execution of their concepts.
  • Work on highest profile accounts, assist in trouble-shooting challenging concepts, project outcomes and information discrepancy.
  • Provide a resource for sales team to filter potential opportunities through.
  • Strong ability to lead a group of Structural Designers during client interactions to ensure client needs are met
  • Creative approach to design that fits with the urgency of our culture.
  • Proven ability to meet aggressive deadlines, consistently delivering exemplary work while juggling multiple priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and assign workload levels of the department providing necessary balance to meet project deadlines and requirements with available resources.
  • Act as a resource for other structural design team members for work concept and direction.
  • Function as the backup for the Director of Design and Client Services (DODCS). When DODCS is not available, makes decisions specifically related to structural design department.
  • Create new package and display design concepts by using CAD system to develop designs that meet customers’ needs and expectations in a creative, timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate design concepts and fabricates samples of design concepts; i.e. containers, interior packaging, and displays.
  • Responsible for the design deliverables on multiple projects at one time.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relations to obtain support materials for design projects. Identify vendors and processes to improve our design products and outputs.
  • Seek additional information on key markets to present new and innovative designs and solutions to assigned clients.
  • Document accurate and detailed specifications on completed design projects for Estimating and Production.
  • Maintain information on freight regulations, production equipment limitations, hazardous materials requirements, packaging materials and performance and drop testing procedures.
  • Understand variables related to production costs and estimating procedures.
  • Develop fabrication assembly drawings of specific designs as requested.
  • Participate in design trade shows and seminars and remains abreast of new state-of-the-art design systems and equipment. Develops and maintains relationships with other design firms, reviews catalogs, and periodicals and newsletters focused on package design concepts.  Seeks information from retailers on design requirements.
  • Confer with customers and/or Sales Representatives to provide solutions and ideas to enhance GNC’s ability to secure additional business.
  • Advise customers and Management on efficient packaging procedures, innovations in packaging materials, and utilization of sealing and fastening devices.
  • Maintain awareness of display and packaging trends, looks for methods to adopt innovative solutions to display and packaging challenges.
  • Interface daily with Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Shipping/Receiving and Production employees to design and develop optimum structural designs.
  • Possess and seek understanding and knowledge in a wide variety of fiberboard and non-fiber substrates.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient and significant level of knowledge as such relates to Artios CAD and Truck loading software.
  • Act as a training and knowledge resource for less experienced members of the design teams.
