POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising production employees.  This position also plans and assigns work & employee schedules, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  • Oversee all aspects of Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Employee Engagement.
  • Provide leadership through coaching of crews and employees. Encourage employee growth.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, training.
  • Administer employee performance reviews, compensation, & discipline.
  • Participates in continuous improvement and effectively communicate opportunities to improve efficiencies and effectiveness for this position.
  • Manage departmental performance measures and provide regular progress reports to Operations Manager.
  • Monitor activities of hourly employees to maintain safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform accident investigations.
  • Communicate with all departments regarding production, customer service, quality etc.
  • All other reasonable duties as required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be able to directly and indirectly supervise the following employees:
    • All hourly employees
    • Crew Leaders
  • Work with Operations Manager regarding decisions concerning the following areas:
    • Safety
    • Production and Quality
    • Personnel Issues and Staffing
  • Requires less than 5% of travel time

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must possess five to eight years’ experience in a production environment and a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORK RELATIONSHIP AND SCOPE:

Reports directly to Operations Manager.  Works closely with scheduling, payroll, customer service, sales, purchasing, Corporate EHS Manager, and Human Resources.

VBOARD CREW LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

Set up orders for machine and direct crew to produce the finest quality product at rates and standards consistent with the Company’s desire to be a Preferred Supplier of cost effective, top quality products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  1. Ensure efficient staffing for machine, inform supervisor when problems arise.
  2. Set up computer for daily work load
  3. Walk down length of machine to ensure it is ready to run.
  4. Monitor glue levels; maintain a clean and efficient glue system.
  5. Check calipers and length, adjust as needed.
  6. Document data collection.
  7. Be in constant communication with supervisors and crew members.
  8. Maintain productions reports
  9. Maintain sample rack.
  10. Participate in continuous improvement and effectively communicate opportunities to improve efficiencies and effectiveness for this position.
  11. All other reasonable duties as required.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in all phases of machine and department operation as needed for breaks, changes, or special projects.
  2. Keep up to date with any ongoing machine improvements.
  3. Maintain cleanliness to ensure safety of all personnel.
  4. Foster an attitude of lean thinking, sustain improvements and motivating the rest of the crew to not be satisfied with status quo.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Prefer candidates that hold a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months leadership experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be available to work shifts of 6am-2:00pm and 2:00pm-10:00pm and 10:00pm-6:00am until placed on permanent shift schedule
  • Must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK RELATIONSHIP AND SCOPE:

  • Work closely and be in constant communication with Operations Manager & Shift Supervisors for direction on daily work schedule, staff for machine and up-coming order changes.
  • Ensure all safety guidelines are followed.  Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries to supervision immediately.
  • Ensure good communication between shifts.
