On a recent Saturday, 20 Appleton area Great Northern employees took part in the Pulling for Honor event held at the Appleton International Airport. The mission of the Pulling for Honor 2019 event was to fully fund one Honor Flight, enabling 100 veterans to experience an unforgettable trip to Washington D.C. Great Northern employees came ready to help fulfill this mission!
Great Northern is pleased to announce that Jeff Michels was recently promoted to President of the Packaging and Instore Groups. Michels moves into this newly created role after 14 years as the Packaging Business Unit Manager and a total of 21 years with Great Northern. He will have direct responsibility for Great Northern facilities in Racine, Wis.; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Chippewa Falls, Wis., in addition to his current leadership of the Appleton, Wis. plant.

Two of Great Northern’s flexography printing experts, Geoff Roznak and Kevin Krause, shared their expertise at the 2019 FTA Forum, held in Atlanta in April. Geoff was an award committee member, and Kevin judged the combined corrugated and preprinted linearboard categories . The Great Northern Instore Chicago team packed 11,230 meals for Feed My Starving Children, which will feed children in Haiti, Guatemala, and Colombia. This was the fifth year the team worked with the FMSC organization. A huge thanks to all of the volunteers who help fight hunger, and for showing that Great Northern Cares.

Great Northern Packaging will exhibit at the 2019 Cheese Industry Conference on April 17, 2019 at the Alliance Energy Center, Madison, WI. Cheese packaging is a big focus for Great Northern, so stop by our booth # 1030 to see the latest in cheese packaging solutions.
Great things happen when we all work together! Great Northern Appleton employees from Packaging, Laminations, and Rollguard offices came together, donating over 650 lbs. of personal hygiene items and over $500 in donations to help the homeless in the Fox Valley. Also, the Great Northern StrataGraph team in Oshkosh donated $900 worth of hygiene items to be distributed throughout the Oshkosh community. Thanks to our employees for showing that Great Northern Cares!
United Way Fox Cities awarded Great Northern the Sustained Excellence Award for its continued commitment to the organization. This is exciting news for Appleton employees at Great Northern who make an extraordinary effort each year to donate and promote the mission of United Way by making annual goals and challenging the team to surpass them.
The Twin Cities’ Great Northern Cares team is making a big impact through its partnership with Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that tackles world hunger by sending volunteer-packed, nutritious meals to 70 different countries. In January, the team packed 26,136 meals that will feed 71 kids for an entire year in Sierra Leone! The event was a lot of fun and very rewarding for all who participated.
Great Northern is now a member of the Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier Network (APASS), a select group of companies that Amazon officially recognizes as packaging experts who can help e-commerce vendors with their packaging challenges.
