We require our leadership teams at each location to ensure facilities comply with all related laws and regulations set forth in the Corporate Safety Manual. We train team members on their role in the program, and we set annual goals to provide our team members with a workplace free of recognized hazards.
We maintain modern, clean, well-lit, drug-free, and tobacco-free, OSHA-compliant working environments with state-of-the-art, safe, and well-maintained equipment.

Well-being involves an increased level of mental understanding and body awareness, a need to make a commitment to take the steps necessary for effective and healthy lifestyle changes, and embracing the motivation and support needed to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyle outcomes.
To that end, Great Northern offers many tools and resources to benefit and support team members to reach their lifestyle goals, including annual health risk screenings, and an on-site health coach to provide advice, tools, and support to help team members raise their Health Risk Assessment scores.
We also offer preventative health insurance benefits, annual wellness initiatives and periodic wellness challenges, health fitness reimbursement, and a culture of support for making good lifestyle choices. Our locations independently offer a range of initiatives, including walking clubs, healthy holiday programs, cumulative miles or weigh-ins.
On-site and near-site clinics and ongoing team member engagement around health and wellness have kept healthcare spending in control in 2020 as an outcome of keeping our teammates healthy.
