When people think about boxes, they think of the items inside the box. This year, Great Northern partnered with Paper Discovery Center to create the program, “Cardboard – Outside the Box,” as a way to inspire creativity in a child’s mind. With the cardboard donations from Great Northern, children were able to explore, create, and invent with this interactive program. Watch the video here:
Great Northern Laminations’ Aaron Sass, Director of New Business Development, has been working with Appleton East High School students in the Career Launch Studio. On a recent Saturday, 20 Appleton area Great Northern employees took part in the Pulling for Honor event held at the Appleton International Airport. The mission of the Pulling for Honor 2019 event was to fully fund one Honor Flight, enabling 100 veterans to experience an unforgettable trip to Washington D.C. The Twin Cities’ Great Northern Cares team is making a big impact through its partnership with Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that tackles world hunger by sending volunteer-packed, nutritious meals to 70 different countries. In January, the team packed 26,136 meals that will feed 71 kids for an entire year in Sierra Leone! The event was a lot of fun and very rewarding for all who participated.
The holidays can be a stressful time, especially for those with limited resources. With this in mind, the Laminations team located in Appleton recently adopted two local families for Christmas. In addition to shopping for gifts, employees held a bake sale to raise funds, and plant employees donated personal gas gift cards. In total, each family received about $800 worth of gifts.
It’s that time of year–Giving to Others and Ugly Christmas Sweaters
The Twin Cities team combined both traditions this year! They donated $470 in gift cards plus multiple bags of supplies to the Angel Foundation, which provides financial and emotional support to families impacted by cancer, and had extra fun wrapping while donning their Ugly Christmas sweaters.
