The Great Northern Cares team was at it again, joining the MyTeam Triumph (Wisconsin region) in a recent 5K event. The mission of MyTeam Triumph is to enrich the wellbeing of individuals with diverse abilities and foster lifelong relationships through community athletics. The organization operates over 75 events each year in eight regions of Wisconsin, bringing together 600 Captains (athletes with diverse abilities), 1500 Angels (able bodied athletes) and 270 Volunteers. So far this year, they have already offered more than 28,000 total opportunities (26,000 training , 2400 racing) over 40+ events in Wisconsin.
Great Northern Laminations’ Corey Nugent is the Fox Valley Crew Leader and also an active Angel participating in several other events, including Ironman Wisconsin with a team of Angels. The recent Fox Cities 5K included 7 teams, 22 Angels, and 17 Captains. Some of the team captains got out of the chair at the finish, creating a very emotional and inspirational experience for all participating and attending.
Thank you to Corey and all who participated to help embrace, celebrate, and empower those with diverse abilities!
