What started out as a part-time role as recruiter in Appleton has led Jill Vanderhoof to the role as HR Coordinator in Oshkosh. Jill has made the most of her opportunities for growth. “As a part-time recruiter, my position included hiring assistance at Oshkosh,” Jill noted. “This provided an opportunity to get to know the team and the work environment. During coaching I had expressed interest in progressing within Great Northern.” When Oshkosh decided to add the HR Coordinator position to their team, she was approached and asked if she was interested. “During my time in Oshkosh I have been given the opportunity to expand my role,” Jill said. “I have been actively involved in the leadership team and developing programs.”

Jill credits her personal growth to the many mentors throughout Great Northern. “I applied at Great Northern because I loved the core values that are proudly displayed on the website and I knew, this was the place for me. When I started as a recruiter, my manager took me under her wing and taught me the Great Northern way. She lives out the core values every day, takes pride in her job and truly cares about the people she works with.” Others within Great Northern taught me about the industry, shared Great Northern’s vision and provided me with opportunities to get involved. The entire Great Northern HR Team is so wonderful to work with. Everyone is so willing to share best practices, help trouble shoot and bounce ideas off each other.”

Jill is enjoying her role. “When I started at Great Northern my goal was to find a company that aligned with my values and provided me with a good work life balance. As I became acclimated with my role as a recruiter I knew I wanted to do more within Great Northern.”
