Joe Youngbauer

After two decades of dedicated service at Great Northern Packaging’s Oshkosh location, Joe Youngbauer has retired. Throughout his career, Joe played a key role in the finishing department, working closely with the press and laminator machines. For the first 15 years, he also trained team members, especially Operators, helping to build a strong, skilled workforce.

“I enjoyed being a morale booster and helping bridge personality differences,” Joe shared. “One of the most important lessons I learned here was the value of patience and treating others the way you want to be treated.”

When asked what kept him at Great Northern for over 20 years, Joe pointed to the people and the positive work environment. “The team we started with had their strengths, and we knew we could succeed together,” he said. “The facility was well-maintained, and leadership genuinely cared about our success.”

Joe’s advice to new professionals? “Find something you enjoy and get really good at it. And definitely invest in Great Northern’s 401(k) program. If you become great at what you do, you’re harder to replace.”

As he looks forward to retirement, Joe is excited to spend more time with his family—but he’ll miss the camaraderie of the workplace. “I’ve built long-lasting friendships here—relationships I might never have formed outside of work.”
