Our employees are jumping in to make a difference. Many of our locations has taken it upon themselves to provide packaging for community efforts free of charge. We have also provided much needed funds to area food banks, and at several locations, employees are using their free time to make health care worker facemasks.

Customer Wins

Many of our food and medical customers have reached out to us to ensure that we have the ability to provide corrugated packaging during this challenging time. Great Northern’s corrugated packaging plays a critical role in the supply chain for our food and medical customers. Demand for all these products has surged, leading to unprecedented demand to keep the supply chain full. Great Northern is fully engaged with these essential products companies in making sure their products can be packaged and shipped in a safe manner to stores and other distribution outlets.

Two examples of customers we are helping are on the front lines of treating COVID-19 patients. One of our corrugate box customers is a re-packager providing medical-grade respirators. Another customer we are supplying critical packaging to is a manufacturer of a COVID-19 testing kit.

Employee Safety

To keep employees safe at work, Great Northern has encouraged those who can to work from home or practice the 6-foot distancing rule around the plant. We are also limiting visitors to those who are essential in our day-to-day operations. We are deep cleaning our facilities daily and after every shift. We also have a proactive sanitization plan in place should an employee come down with an illness while at work.

Great Northern recently joined forces with a local coalition called Be Safe Wisconsin, a broad group of like-minded organizations and individuals dedicated to amplifying the importance of a personal commitment to safe behaviors in the evolving fight against COVID-19. There are three goals to achieve:

  • Protect you, your family and friends, your co-workers and your fellow neighbors
  • Reduce the spread of COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and loss of life.
  • Support our health care workers, first responders and law enforcements officers.
